Mastering weight-maintenance skills before embarking on diet helps women avoid backsliding
women who spent eight weeks mastering weight-maintenance skills before embarking on a weight-loss program shed the same number of pounds as women who started a weight-loss program immediately. More importantly, the study showed that the "maintenance-first" women had regained only 3 pounds on average a year later, compared to the average 7-pound gain for the immediate dieters.
Very interesting. A lot of this chimes with Lyle McDonald's ideas.
So much of weight control is psychological, learning habits....

Very informative and helpful post. You have good information on the topic and have explained in a very nice way. Thanks for sharing.
Chris,
This goes back to my point of everyone OWNING their individual list of basics. These individual basics are like a checklist, for staying on track and making habits a part of you.
Without YOUR basics, being a habit, I'm sorry to to say you will never reach what you are after. Simply because you are not "living" who you would like to be........ Simply cause you don't own the habits.
Make sense?
Marc
I agree. In the end, one has to make a very simple list of exercise, diet, sleep habits...and follow it for long time to see the benefits. So the simpler, the better.
