A "How To Guide" to Intermittent Fasting

Mark's Daily Apple has posted a guide to intermittent fasting. It must be a good post, since it links to this blog! Thanks Mark.

He identifies different approaches to IF:

  • Skipped Meal:
  • Condensed Eating Window: (Like Fast5)
  • Early and Late:
  • Single Twenty-Four Fast (like Eat Stop Eat)
  • Alternating Day Fast for Week (or more):
Let your choice(s) fit with your personal/family schedule, natural rhythms, and your personality (some of us are meticulous planners and some are more spontaneous – “and that’s O.K.”). The point of IF is this: episodic deprivation takes your body “off the track” for a while and allows systems to reinvigorate and recalibrate (also known as up-regulating and/or down-regulating gene expression).

Mike had a similar post on his IF life blog:

If you are interested in some of the relevant science I still recommend Brad Pilon's Eat Stop Eat book.
