Sugar is bad in many ways!

Just skimming through these recent articles from the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, you would think that refined carbohydrates are associated with:

cancer;

loss of sight (updated 8/10/07...the Modern Forager blog has a good posting about this story); and

increases in the so-called "bad" LDL cholesterol.

Indeed, fructose is presented as a pretty dodgy thing to eat.

It is amazing that we are told to eat so many carbohydrates!

Limiting refined carbohydrates may stall AMD progression

I read that whole Dr Briffa post and comments.

You know, I've been researching nearly full-time for a month, mostly on the internet (some book learnin') and now that I think of it, in all the hundreds of testimonies I've read, I've NEVER read a diabetic write that they had tried Atkins/low-carb and had problems or it hadn't benefitted them.

Not once.
