Wisdom from Clarence Bass

Clarence has been around for such a long time that I sort of assume that everyone knows of him and - like me - waits each month for his site update.  But I've found that lots of people still are not aware of him.

He has a couple of good posts this month:

Intensity, Failure, Rep Range, Muscular Endurance, Specificity  - A review of James Steele II article that I pointed to a while ago
A nice piece on cross training -   Cross-Training Doesn’t Work—Unless it’s Weight Training

"Unless it’s Weight Training" - i guess, gymnasts who do no or almost no or "weight training", and yet have huu-uge muscles relative to lo-ow body fat percentage, are laughing on the floor

Hi,

Thanks for sharing this article.

Quick question,
In reference to cross training not working unless its weight training, could any form of whole body conditioning be substituted for weight training here? I'm thinking of power yoga, TRX straps, tacfit, and so on.
Thanks,
Harry

@Anonymous-don't be a dumb ass! Gymnasts are a select breed-not everyone gets huu-uge doing that kind of work nor has the time to spend all day doing it like gymnast do-and body weight training is a form of weight training (with body weight stupid). Also, what is the magic behind weight training? Progressive resistance-it's what makes you stronger. Body weight training doesn't help much in this respect unless you plan on gaining a bunch of weight while you're doing it. Use your head!!

I have to admit that I've never heard of Clarence Bass before. Shame on me! Is coming from Germany a good enough excuse? lol. But I loved this articles. Thanks for sharing!
