Deadlift Form

Here is Gray Cook on deadlift form.

He writes about it here too.

Maintain the Squat - Train the Deadlift

Most of his focus is on the single leg version.

I'm interested that his basic motion is really a still legged / Romanian deadlift - the hips are doing the work, not the knees. It is also the same hip hinge movement that Esther Gokhale teaches as a basic safe way of bending over - thrust the hips back. It is also the key to the swing

Good stuff. Proper hip function in everyone is crucial. I see a bunch of athletes with significant L -R imbalances, especially endurance athletes. And, yup, they usually have some sort of foot, knee, hip, or low back issue/pain on the weaker side.

Sifter - why not? Pushing the hips back doesn't mean tilting the pelvis

I love the deadlift, but you have to be specific...you can't just say "deadlift is the best."

The SAID principle - different for everyone, in their particular situation.

Also, child biomechanics are SIGNIFICANTLY different than adult biomechanics. He should use a different example...
